Classic album, Mother of the future is a killer track sung by Dee Dee Bridgewater also Banks of the Nile shows great promise. 
This album is underrated to say the least a must for any Avant-garde/spiritual collection.
If you could only have one Carlos Garnett LP this is the one to bag. I don't understand why the others are more sought after when this beats the them all hands down. Every track is amazing. Ebonesque is pure sonic perfection

After moving to New York in 1962, he played in a rock 'n' roll group led by Leo Price. Around this time he also started learning music theory, being self-taught and having always played by ear. Jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard hired him in 1968 and introduced him to many New York musicians. Garnett's first recording was Hubbard's 1969 album A Soul Experiment, which contained two original compositions by him.

In the late 1960s and early 1970 Garnett also played with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Charles Mingus and Miles Davis. His group recorded five albums for three years between 1974 and 1977 on Muse, notably Journey to Enlightenment, Black Love, and Let This Melody Ring On. In 1982, Garnett, suffering from depression and drug abuse, experienced a spiritual awakening and stopped playing music for almost a decade. He began performing again in 1991 and released the albums Fuego en mi alma (1996), Under Nubian Skies (1999) and Moon Shadow(2001). In 2000 he moved back to Panama.

Reginald Grant Lucas (February 25, 1953 – May 19, 2018) was an American guitarist, songwriter and record producer. Lucas is perhaps best known for producing the majority of Madonna's 1983 self-titled debut album, and for playing rhythm guitar with the Miles Davis electric band during the first half of the 1970s

She is a three-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, as well as a Tony Award-winning stage actress. For 23 years, she was the host of National Public Radio's syndicated radio show JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater.She is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization

James Forman (January 3, 1946 – January 9, 2022), known professionally as Mtume or James Mtume, was an American jazz and R&B musician, songwriter, record producer, activist, and radio personality.[1]

He came to prominence as a jazz musician, working with Miles Davis between 1971 and 1975. Mtume's R&B group, also called Mtume, is best known for the 1983 R&B hit song "Juicy Fruit", which has been repeatedly sampled. Mtume the band also had a top-five R&B hit with the single "You, Me, and He"

Norman Connors (born March 1, 1947) is an American jazz drummer, composer, arranger, and producer who has led a number of influential jazz and R&B groups. He also achieved several big R&B hits of the day, especially with love ballads. He is possibly best known for the 1976 hit, "You Are My Starship" on which lead vocals were sung by Michael Henderson

Mauricio Smith (11 July, 1931, Colón, Panamá - 3 August, 2002) was a giant of Latin music, a genius whose work helped the development of many of the great names that we know internationally today in salsa and Latin jazz. Although he did not generate many albums under his name, Mauricio Smith has recorded with many giants of Latin music, such as Candido, Mongo Santamaría, Tito Puente, Machito, Tito Rodríguez, Ray Barretto, Willie Colón, Rubén Blades, Julio Gutiérrez, Jimmy Bosch , Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, Louie Ramírez, Orquesta Novel, Joe Cuba, Chico O'Farrill, the Conga Kings, and many others. On the American side, Smith has been notable, for example, on recordings with Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie, Eartha Kitt, Harry Belafonte, David Byrne, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Smith was musical director of the orchestras of Mongo Santamaría, Tito Rodríguez, Chubby Checker, Machito, and others.
