For his third non-Santana album, Carlos Santana performed the works of John Coltrane with Coltrane's widow, Alice Coltrane.
Side One includes several contemplative, string-filled numbers, while Side Two presents Santana's re-creation of John Coltrane's late free-jazz style in "Angel of Sunlight."
Columbia Records could not have been pleased at Santana's determined drift into esoteric jazz: Illuminations was the first of the nine Santana-related albums so far released not to go gold

An immaculate pair of labels - maybe one light spindle trace on one side

In keeping with its possibly unplayed status my one careful play-check at loud volume found practically nothing to fault - just one 'pop' at the beginning of Side One but no other issues of any kind - a beautifully clean, 'as-new' copy

As clean, sharp and fresh as the day it was made - just the smallest touch of storage rub on the bottom edge
