Insanely RARE 1972 US White Label Promo MONO Edition!

This mono mix was created for and distributed to AM radio stations exclusively, and was NEVER available for sale to the general record-buying public!

Furthermore, this mono mix has NEVER been released on CD or any other digital format! This promotional copy is the ONLY way to hear this great performance in glorious MONO!

As you can see, this 2-LP set was issued in a standard stereo jacket, which carries the regular stereo catalog number SD 2-904. However, it is marked as a mono promo by the orange "PROMOTIONAL d/j monaural NOT FOR SALE" sticker which adorns the front. However, each disc side carries a unique white promo label, which removes mention of the word "STEREO", and instead carries the text "SAMPLE COPY NOT FOR SALE" in its place. Furthermore, the labels display the unique mono catalog number, 2-904 (the "SD-" prefix has been removed, as it indicates a stereo album).

These Atlantic promo-exclusive mono releases are swiftly becoming the stuff of legend, with many titles not even having been documented until they come up for sale! This release is no exception, with no mention of it in any price guide (print or digital), save for the Discogs entry which we ourselves created for it! We guarantee that there were no more than 100 pressed, and assure you that it is one of the few to survive years of airplay abuse, and one of the few that you will EVER see!

Jacket Grade: VG+ - The only significant flaw is a label attached to the front (the one which reads "1972"). Otherwise this one looks fantastic, with just a touch of ringwear (on the back only), and absolutely minor discoloration in the gatefold. The promo sticker is still in place and fully intact!

Vinyl Grade: EX - All four sides are STUNNINGLY glossy, and we seriously doubt it was ever played! We acquired it from a DJ who specialized primarily in soul, and who probably filed this away with the other jazz records he wasn't playing immediately upon receiving it from Atlantic! When we say "bright, mirror-like gloss", we mean it - we could actually see our reflections! What keeps it from NM are a number of ultra-faint "sleeve-dust-friction" marks (you know the kind) which mar the surface ever so slightly. Still nothing at all to be worried about.
