Description
CARNIVAL OF SONGS 1963 Various Artists LP compilation. KING-819. SEALED. Artists are: James Brown, Little Willie John, Nina Simone, The Five Royales, The Dominoes, Freddie King, Hank Ballard, Earl Bostic, The Platters, Billy Eckstine, Sonny Thompson, Bill Doggett.
I ran across a few of these over 30 years ago in a Bay Area record store. I cannot say with certainty that it is the absolute 1st press, but the two open copies that I have show the black KING label with silver printing and a circular groove set into the label. According to Joe Goldmark's excellent vinylbeat website, this is the first label for this release. I have shown a scan of the label from one of my open copies.
Vinyl is fairly heavy, but there is a possibility this is an early reissue. I believe it to be a legitimate KING RECORDS release.
There is a record store price sticker on the shrink wrap. Shrink wrap is somewhat loose fitting on the cover which is NEAR MINT.
Record will be packaged in new polyethylene sleeve and will be shipped in 13x13x2 Uline mailer (200 lb. test) with 13" x 13" filler pads to avoid edge/corner bumping.
