Let's play Six Degrees of Separation. What's the link between BUDDY HOLLY and BOB DYLAN? The answer: Texas folk singer Carolyn Hester. Buddy played guitar on her first album, SCARLET RIBBONS, which producer NORMAN PETTY recorded in 1958.

Four years later, Hester recorded for Columbia, under the auspices of producer JOHN HAMMOND. For her big-label debut, another indelible legend of music history collaborated with her. A young BOB DYLAN, just weeks after the release of his debut LP (Columbia CS 8579), contributed gutsy harmonica to three tracks on this lovely, impressive album. This disc has never been reissued on CD.

We are pleased to offer a gorgeous FIRST PRESSING of this folk classic.

CONDITION: [jacket] Only minimal wear to this glossy, bright jacket! Seams intact and smooth; all lettering on spine intact and crisp. Some corner stubs. NO RINGWEAR--this is so rare for black-colored LP covers!!! Back jacket has some very light aging coloration. Marked "1" on bottom right hand cover. This is a NEAR MINT jacket. [disc] Lustrous vinyl was stored in a plastic sleeve, and thus has none of the defects associated with paper sleeve storage. NO paper scuffs. Some very minor handling wear. This album looks like it was played once, perhaps twice, and then stored away on a shelf for the next half-century. To be conservative, I'll call it NEAR MINT.

See image of disc below. Inset shows that this is a FIRST STAMPER PRESSING. Matrix #s are XSM-55912-1A and XSM-55913-1A. "Six-eye" labels are in perfect shape. You would be hard-pressed to find a nicer copy of this rare and highly collectible Carolyn Hester album.
