VOZ VIVA VVMN-11 (1980, Mexico)

 

 

Julian Carrillo (1875-1965) was a Mexican composer that discovered microtonal music. His theory was coined “The Thirteenth Sound”. He won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1950 for his work on the node law. His discovery was obviously very influential on future musical composition. The works on this super scarce University of Mexico 2-LP set are: “Horizontes”, for symphonic poem for Violin & Cello, “Preludio A Colon”, for voice & quartertone instruments, “Balbuceos” for microtonal piano, “Concierto para Violoncello” for quarter-tone cello and “Primera Sonata En Mi Menor” for microtonal violin. A wonderful and scarce document of this important composer.

 

Records (2) are in NM condition and jacket is NM. The University of Mexico Voz Viva label LPs are near impossible to find. This is the first copy of this very scarce set I have offered in 20 years of selling classical LPs. Never offered on eBay and doubt you will see another.

 

I recently acquired a small but superb collection of modern, experimental, improvised, & electronic music. I will be offering 50 or so items from this collection at the end of each month. This kind of material rarely surfaces so keep looking for future auctions.
