Description
This is a 1964 U.S. COLUMBIA RECORDS 7" 45 RPM SINGLE containing the tracks 'I Am the Greatest' / 'Stand By Me' from the late boxing legend Cassius Clay, later known as Muhammad Ali. It is Columbia Records catalog number 4-43007, with its original Columbia Records stock company sleeve. 'I Am the Greatest' is one of Ali's classic rhyming raps about his boxing skills; 'Stand By Me' is a surprisingly good straight musical take on the Ben E. King classic, this Clay / Ali version has now become a Northern soul classic!
Condition of record is a high VG+ with a very few visible surface marks which cannot be felt and will not affect play. Record plays like a champ, no pun intended. A-side label has a couple of small worn spots around the center hole, both labels have a little contact wear, no other flaws. Condition of stock Columbia Records company sleeve cover is VG+ with a little writing, some wrinkles, a little fraying along its top edge, and a little general wear along the edges and on the corners.
