ORIGINAL UK DERAM (DML 1018) FIRST *MONO* PRESSING (December 1967) OF CAT STEVENS' SECOND ALBUM "New Masters" - ONE OF CAT STEVENS' RAREST LPS IN ITS ORIGINAL PRESSING AS IT SOLD VERY POORLY ON RELEASE AND FAILED TO CHART IN THE UK

PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WHICH DELIVERS A SHARP, FRESH AND IMMEDIATE SOUND (as you would expect from DECCA who cut some of the finest sounding records of the period)
THE ALBUM HAS THE FIRST BROWN/WHITE DERAM GROOVED LABELS
FIRST PRESS MATRIX NUMBERS: ARL-8102-1A / ARL-8103-1A (with 'KT' tax code on both run-offs)
VERY EARLY MOTHERS/STAMPERS: 1/U and 1/K (marking this copy in the batch of the first 900-1200 pressed)
AND IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE “Printed in England by Clout & Baker Ltd.”

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT and UNMARKED with moderate spindles traces (please see close-up photo)
VINYL Visual: The surfaces still retain their original DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN. There are some superficial light marks but these are not deep and have NO real audio consequence - the LP plays extremely well throughout - visually VG+
VINYL Audio: CRYSTAL CLEAR, RICH, SHARP SOUND - TREMENDOUS IMMEDIATE FEEL ON THIS *MONO* CUT. On playback at a LOUD volume (which is how I always listen to my records prior to listing) there are NO audible scratches on the record, NO sticks or jumps, just some light surface noise between some (not all) of the tracks and a few light intermittent ticks/pops but none of these rise above background level and I did not find them at all intrusive. The sound quality is very impressive throughout and the record plays to a high standard with NO discernible groove-wear and NO distortion and is critically graded Nr EXCELLENT for audio. Overall a very nice playing copy indeed which plays extremely well, sounds great and still provides a hugely enjoyable listen
SLEEVE: The original front laminated sleeve I would critically grade as VG++ as there is some record impression on the front and back and some light creases to the laminated surface. It is however, good and solid with no structural damage and all spine text is still clear and bold
