Here we have the super rare original 1977 privately released sole LP by Cathedral: Stained Glass Stories, on Delta DRC-1002. This is one of the great, great "holy grails" of US prog rock. Yes, there actually was real top-level prog in America, and many collectors see this album as the crowning glory of all of them. I have to agree. Self-released in 1977, there are said to have been only a very small number made; some say as few as 200 copies. They only made enough for the small scene in Long Island as more or less a promotional item to sell at shows and to play on the radio to advertise, and it was never nationally distributed or released on a larger scale. Anyhow this copy is in fantastic playing condition. The disc is very nearly perfectly mint and plays flawlessly and just beautifully. There are maybe one or two very light scuffs but really it's a gorgeous copy. The cover, sadly, got some rainwater on it due to a leaky roof, and is damaged, mainly on the back. The front has just a few light spots and some minor wrinkles, but overall still looks pretty great. The back, however, is partially covered with mildew stains (it does not smell at all), and some of the top paper layer is tearing off. Still some of it is still clean and crisp. See photos. It is still perfectly intact with no seam splits and no corner wear or anything. It was a NM copy before the rain. Anyhow this damage is tragic, but still the front looks wonderful, and the disc sounds absolutely glorious. Very very rare in any condition! Here's a chance to get it at a bargain price!
