CAUSTIC WINDOW (APHEX TWIN) Joyrex J9 picture disc
1993 10" picture disc. Rephlex CAT 009i. UK. The extremely rare picture disc 2-track version of the J9 EP, limited to 300 copies. The clear vinyl picture disc has a jewel-like quality, really quite something to see and hold. Here Aphex Twin is in hardcore acid techno mode. Two tracks: Humanoid Must Not Escape (this really goes, and was an exclusive track on the picture disc at the time) and Fantasia (really blistering, heard in the celebrated 1995 Pirelli tire ad with Carl Lewis: http://youtu.be/uP45TruKSVM

The vinyl picture disc is in very strong near-mint condition. It was only out of its sleeve once before I took these pictures. In 1993 I brought this home, opened it up, put on (what I now know is) Fantasia, and realized about 3 seconds in that this was a little more than I had bargained for. At the time, I was buying every Aphex Twin release based on my enjoyment of Selected Ambient Works 85-92, and this was a wee bit different. "THE ACID THAT FELL TO EARTH" is etched into the dead wax on side A. Indeed. Anyhow, after that one short spin, this copy was never played again. It is in really beautiful shape.
The clear PVC sleeve is in excellent condition, with a few wrinkles, and mainly, a little bit of gummy residue from remaining from the piece of tape that held it closed 19 years ago (see detail photo). The label on the sleeve is in excellent condition, with a couple small spots of wear that were likely there when I bought the record, since I have kept it in a poly sleeve ever since.
A rare chance to obtain this great, frame-worthy Aphex Twin collectible in beautiful near-mint condition.
Someone on YouTube says: "One of the coolest looking pieces of Vinyl ever made...", and I think that sums it up well.
