COMMENTS/REVIEW: The 1979 Billboard review says "Let it be said right off. these two records (Sonic Fireworks, vols. I & II) present some of the cleanest and most impressive sound to be encountered anywhere regardless of technology. By the most welcome confluence of ingredients - performance, microphone placement, recording venue, and engineering expertise, all combine to deliver an outstanding product. Anyone inclined to argue the superiority of direct disk has strong evidence here... an almost mystical sense of presence." The dbx encoded version is harder to find, and requires a dbx decoder for proper playback. The result is well-worth it, however: CD-like silent background, and an LP's vivid soundstage, "musicality", and and smoothness. Incredible.

Note: All records, even those freshly opened, may exhibit some form of surface noise upon playback due to the nature of this format. It is therefore recommended that you clean LP records using an appropriate technique to obtain the best playback result. Also, the choice of phono cartridge/stylus will affect how much musical information vs. noise is retrieved from the grooves. A good AudioTechnica, Denon, Benz etc. cartridge will extract more music and push noise dramatically into the background for superb results.
