For auction: The 1971 double LP "Septober Energy" by Centipede. RCA / Neon NE9 Stereo.
Centipede was the brainchild of jazz pianist and sometime King Crimson contributor Keith Tippett. The band featured a varying line up that generally numbered at least 50 musicians. Produced by Robert Fripp this was the band's only recording. The line up included Robert Wyatt, Mike Patto, Zoot Money, Boz Burrell, Brian Godding along with various other members of Soft Machine and King Crimson as well as a host of luminaries from the world of jazz. The music is best described as Prog rock jazz fusion.
This is the UK first pressing. The matrix numbers are: Side 1- AGBS 0604-2E. Side 2- AGBS 0605-2E. Side 3- AGBS 0606-2E. Side 4- AGBS 0607-4.
Vinyl = VG minus. There are some light surface marks and scratches but the record retains a nice sheen. There is nothing deep and no jumps. The record plays well with a little occasional surface noise. Sleeve = VG minus. No tears or rips and a good spine. Small sticker damage to front (1cm by 3mm max). Ring/shelf wear and the sort of general grubbiness to be expected from an old, white sleeve. The back appears to have been used as some kind of work surface although I can't imagine what anyone would construct on the back of an LP sleeve.
