Mindbending surrealist proto-electro duo from Canada, this landmark electronic LP was birthed in 1981 and was released in a SUPER LIMITED run of 1000 only! Brett Wickens and Roger Humphreys, like a lot of electronic industrial pioneers, came from punk rock backgrounds (most notably the Spoons) but switched to absurdist electronica under the influence of contemporary european music.
Like their European cousins, Ceramic Hello indulge in the liberal use of primitive drum machines, wayward sequenced analogue synths and foreboding chord changes. Fans of Der Plan, Cabaret Voltaire or Portion Control are staring at the best North American equivalent they will find. The music is fairly varied but laced with a coldness and surgical exactness which really chills the atmosphere. Some of the instrumental pieces verge on the electro-baroque, while 'Dig That Crazy Beat' is light years ahead of it's time, coming across like the 'computer game 8-bit' music that modern artists are rocking. The vocals, sometimes processed and sometimes clean are dark and full of surreal doom. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!.
CONDITION OF VINYL: EXCELLENT. Now, rest assured that my 'Excellent' is bloody EXCELLENT. The surface is smooth and glossy, with only three visible hairline paper scuffs. These are totally inconsequential. I have played the record through and there is no surface noise at all on the tracks and only very, very minimal pops at the start of the track. There is but ONE extremely light spindlemark on one side of the labels, but otherwise they are perfect... or as perfect as they were when the left the factory (this IS an independently pressed slab!!)This is a great, clean copy of this insanely rare LP!!
CONDTION OF SLEEVE: EXCELLENT. The sleeve is in great condition with no rips or tears anywhere. The spine is IMMACULATE and totally legible. The corners have negligible wear, very very slight, and there is some slight creasing on the top two corners. This I have tried to portray on the photographs, but it doesn't interfere with the stiffness of the sleeve. There are some tiny dints on the front and read but these are very common on most sleeves and do not rip the gloss. All in all this is a strong EXCELLENT!
