Massachusetts death metallers Chained To The Bottom Of The Ocean are merchants of the most extreme emotions. There's a raw, dark horror to proceedings and an incredible amount of power across this album. 'Reverse Baptism' is soaked in thick distortion, feedback and a hypnotic, tribal beat as riffs capable of igniting circle pits spin into the mix. Meanwhile, 'Crawl Off & Die' is a powerful opening to Side 2, featuring some of the most impressive shredding and tireless vocal workouts. There's a disdain that runs deep in their veins and their ability to express it is second to none. Plus, the studio work by producer Seth Manchester (The Body/BIG/BRAVE/Battles) at Machines with Magnets in the artsy hub of Providence, Rhode Island is magnificent. They've made an incredibly artful record deserving of all the acclaim that's coming its way.
