Description

Walter Rossi was a young kid who grew up in Montreal, Quebec. His Dad was a guitar player and  Walter lived and breathed guitar. He started with a band called "The Soulmates" and they played all the R 'n' B clubs around town. He had a chance meeting with a band called "TV Mama" who had "Buddy Myles" as a drummer. Buddy was on hiatus from his regular gig with "Wilson Picket" and was called back on national tour. He brought Walter along for the audition of a lifetime. Wilson liked his guitar licks and hired him on the spot. Walter spent the next two years on tour with Wilson Picket. His Dad started having medical problems and Walt had to leave to be closer to his Father back home. He put together a band called "Influence" and played clubs around Montreal with occasional gigs in New York. They did record an album, but the band didn't last for long. He went back to New York and Buddy Myles for his album "The Buddy Myles Express". They scored a hit with "Them Changes" and they played the college circuit for a while, but ultimately Walter returned home to care for his Dad. He then formed the "power trio" "Charlee" and put together an album of "Hendrix-like" guitar wizardry. You can hear Walter’s influence (no pun intended) with Frank Marino and “Mahogany Rush”. The album was only released in Canada, but did well in the USA as an import album. It was released again four years later (1976) in the USA. "Charlee" had by then broke up. As an "in demand" guitarist", "David Bowie" asked Walter to come aboard during the Ziggy Stardust daze, but Walter refused preferring to stay close to home. Thereafter he teamed up with "Luke and the Apostles", "Mike Pagliaro" and "The Rockers" eventually going solo for the rest of his career. He won two Juno awards and was blessed with high respect from his peers and sold out shows where ever he played. This album is a must for all psych enthusiasts.
