CHARLES AZNAVOUR
“FORMIDABLE!”
MEGARARE Barclay Records very first MONO press released, made and distributed in Chile in 1967 by Goluboff Industrias Fonográficas S.A. (Goluboff Records), catalog number BCY 20, with hand etched matrix numbers LD-15163 AI in Side 1 and LD-15163 BI in Side 2, with unusual white/black Barclay Records labels. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!! Amazing rarity for Charles Aznavour lovers, fans and collectors!!!
“FORMIDABLE!” seems to be a compilation album with songs of early Barclay releases by Charles Aznavour edited in Chile only by Goluboff Records in 1967, and like so many times in that period we got it with an UNIQUE COVER made of a single piece of cardboard folded in the middle with two sheets of paper attached (only glued in the mouth edge) to that cardboard for front and back cover, so 3 sides are open and kept together for a plastic bag. Front cover has an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE with an image of Charles Aznavour, Barclay Record logo and catalog number at top right corner and album title at bottom left corner. Back cover has a very simple design, the album title and tracklist written in Spanish only, a words of Charles Aznavours written in French and 2 other albums of Barclay Records recommended by Goluboff Records, “Más Dalida” (BCY 26) by Dalida and “Jacques Brel” (BCY 24). In labels the album title is written in Spanish only and tracklist is written French, translated to Spanish, with full credits for songwriters. The songs in this album are:
Side 1
1 ET MOI DANS MON COIN (Y Yo En Mi Rincón)
2 PLUS RIEN (Nada Más)
3 JE REVIENDRAI DE LOIN (Volveré Desde Lejos)
4 POUR ESSAYER DE FAIRE UNE CHANSON (Para Tratar De Hacer Una Canción)
5 MA “MIE”
Side 2
1 LES ENFANTS DE LA GUERRE (Los Hijos De La Guerra)
2 DE T’AVOIR AIMEE (Por Haberte Amado)
3 QUE DIEU ME GARDE (Que Dios Me Guarde)
4 LES BONS MOMENTS (Los Buenos Momentos)
5 JE L’AIMERAI TOUJOURS (La Querré Siempre)
It’s interesting to notice that most of songs (8) in this album come from the 1966 album “De T’Avoir Aimee” so it’s also possible that Chilean “Formidable!” is only an edited version of original “De T’Avoir Aimee”, the same title “Formidable!” was used in other Latin American countries but with a different artwork and different tracklist. It’s also interesting to notice that in cover the album title is “FORMIDABLE!” but in labels it’s “¡FORMIDABLE!” with an extra “¡”. And the song “Je Reviendrai De Loin” is misspelled in label “Je REVENDRAI De Loin”. So, here you have the chance to own this MEGARARE album by Charles Aznavour, only released in Chile, an exclusive compilation or, if you prefer, an edited version of the 1966 album “De T’Avoir Aimee” with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, UNIQUE TRACKLIST and UNIQUE ERROR!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, no writings, no ring marks, no rips, no bends, some general wear in the edges, more evident in corners, some age browning and light blemishes. The record is in VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with light scuffs and hairlines and some soft scratches hard to see, which don’t affect play. Labels on both sides are in great EX+ or NM- condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear and light age browning. The sound is in great VG+ or EX- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), some light occasional crackles and soft pops here and there, which don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall this is a great record in this MEGARARE PRESS, with a very nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after 46 years won’t disappoint anyone!!! And don’t forget the UNIQUE COVER, the UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, UNIQUE TRACKLIST and UNIQUE ERROR!!! Yes Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!
Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…
Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile
_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
