Mosaic MR4-143, 4 LP boxed set - Hand Numbered 2030 of an edition limited to 2500 albums.

This long-deleted FOUR LP set collects together all the material the great bass player/composer recorded with his Jazz Workshop during his short-lived recording contract with Columbia Records. Originally this material appeared on just two LPs - the classic 'Mingus Ah Um' and 'Mingus Dynasty'. Later, some unissued material and some alternative takes appeared on reissue albums. On top of all this material, Mosaic managed to find yet more unissued takes. As usual Mingus was surrounded by great sidemen including: BOOKER ERVIN, JOHN HANDY, RICHARD WILLIAMS, DON ELLIS, SHAFI HADI, JIMMY KNEPPER and, of course, DANNY RICHMOND on drums.
