LISTEN TO BOTH SIDES!
Mega rare 45 Garage Rocker recorded in 1966 in the hometown of Thunderbolt Records. Two killer sides show the talent and versatility of a group apparently undiscovered by most of the industry. Both songs written by band members Pat Steven and Stevie Bryan. The record was produced by Ervin "Rock" Gardener. Not much else is available on the internet. The very good southerngaragebands website has nothing on them. It could be that their choice of the name Checkmates confused the music industry as that name has been used in various forms by other bands. Certainly their talent is evident on both sides and shines crystal clear. Great band. GREAT ORGAN RIFFS TOO. They sound a lot like those gritty, grinding rock bands out of England back in the 60's. This 45 has rarely been sold on eBay or other record sites. There is no BIN option as the market can decide but to the seller, this is one that deserves a listen.
LABELS:
We rely on extreme close-up photos to describe the label condition. The photos are the actual item being sold and always feature both sides. Any other issues will be pointed out here. Both labels are top condition.
DISC:
We always record the entire track of the actual record being sold. There are no filters or equalization applied. The record is recorded "flat". Buyers should assume that most older records will have some surface, background noise along with a pop or two and sometimes more. That is why the time is taken to record the full record so you can be the judge as to the audio quality. The audio is available for both tracks. Probably some storage scuffs but it looks and sounds unplayed! Top Copy. HEAR BOTH!
