Description

From the archives of the late recording engineer Steve Katz, here's a set of two double-sided 12" LP acetates from the sessions of Cheech & Chong's Up In Smoke. Although most of the material appears to match what's on the released LP, there is one weird exception... For some reason, the set includes a previously unknown funk track featuring Tommy Chong's Blind Melon Chitlin' character: a nearly 4-minute funk/disco jam, apparently titled "Blind Man." I'm assuming the musicians include members of the Yesca studio band that does "Strawberrys" on the soundtrack, but it could also be Tower of Power, which was featured on the Up In Smoke live tour. In any case, no such track has ever surfaced before. Both discs are in VG+ or EX condition with a few faint sleeve marks that do not affect play. One of the LPs seems to be a mastering reference for the Warbner Bros. album, while the other has the songs in a different order and includes the unreleased track.
