CHERYL LYNN CHERYL LYNN RE-ISSUE LIMITED EDITION COLUMBIA RECORDS PC-35486 LP

FACTORY SEALED LP -  vinyl pressing. The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and ears.

You should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever.

LIMITED RE-ISSUE edition of this 1978 album from the R&B vocalist.I remember having Cheryl Lynn’s STAR LOVE on a Disco compilation album I got for Christmas in 1979. Edited from the original essay by renowned U.S. writer A. Scott Galloway, the notes include quotes from Cheryl, co-producer David Paich (of Toto fame) and famed drummer James Gadson.

I would dim the lights and twirl around the living room to Cheryl’s soaring vocal and the celestial arrangement would make me feel like I was levitating. Of course, I’ve heard GOT TO BE REAL on the radio countless times, but it was always STAR LOVE that was closest to my heart.

I wasn’t sure what to expect here, but the rest of the album doesn’t disappoint. It’s diverse and richly produced with a few other standouts. ALL MY LOVIN’ is a sexy grind that showcases those sneering vocals that always made me think of Lynn as a female Rick James. YOU SAVED MY DAY might have even replaced STAR LOVE as my favorite song by her, a real bump-and-boogie bonanza so layered and textured that it gets better as it goes along. GIVE MY LOVE TO YOU is such a feel-good song, plain and simple and NOTHING YOU SAY just smolders. Decent ballads here too that show Cheryl’s range, but she doesn’t overdo it reaching for those high notes like Mariah.
