Description

Outstanding copy of the two-record extended play release.  In addition to Atkins, the group includes several other superb musicians from the C&W field including Henry Haynes on guitar and Kenneth Burns on mandolin (the duo is better known to many as 'Homer and Jethro').  Charlie Grean is on bass and the multi-talented Anita Kerr played organ.  The two discs include eight songs: Gallopin' Guitar, a Stephen Foster medley, St. Louis Blues, Hangover Blues, Black Mountain Rag, Lover Come Back to Me, Third Man Theme and Imagination. Strangely, on the spine of the cover the album is titled 'Galloping Guitar.' While the catalog numeral is 3079 - same as the 10' version of the album - my extensive research has failed to come up with a specific release date.  It is generally believed to be 1953 but I have found no proof of that date.
