Description
Here's a set of the first 7 audiophile Quadraphonic lps by Chicago, including the posters from Chicago II, V (2 posters) and VIII, along with the iron on red cardial from Chicago VIII. That's a total of 11 discs, 4 posters, and the iron on, along with all released original custom inner sleeves. All vinyl stored and will be shipped in MFSL rice paper sleeves. These are all SQ matrix and will also work on any stereo, and you'll hear things buried in the stereo mix. All are just like the originals, except Chicago II, which differs greatly in places from the stereo version.
Chicago Transit Authority, 2lps, Columbia GQ 33255, Cover has rubwear, not bad but visible. Otherwise solid, VG+. Vinyl is EX to EX+. Originally came with paper inner sleeves, and sleeve scuffs are all that's wrong. No effect on the sound. Hits Beginnings, Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is, Questiojns 67 & 68. The highlight, though, is South California Purples, where Terry Kath proves why he was one of the best rock guitarists EVER.
Before I go on, I'd like to say God bless the American record companies for protecting their lps with high quality (not) paper inner sleeves. These thiings have damaged more lps than direct sunlight. They are the first things I replace.
Chicago, 2lps, Columbia GQ 33258. Excellent cover with very light ringwear, vinyl EX to EX+. With original poster. Probably their best, with too many great tunes to mention, but 25 or 6 to 4 is here, with Make me Smile, Wake Up Sunshine, etc.
Chicago III, 2 lps, Columbia C2Q30110.Excellent cover, custom inner sleeves, EX+ vinyl. Hits Free, Lowdown, At the Sunrise, Flight 602.
INFO- Chicago IV, Live at Carnagie Hall, was not released in Quad. It was given a catalog number, but never actually issued to my knowledge.
Chicago V, Columbia CQ 31102. Cover is EX+ to NM, looks great. Textured gatefold housing 2 posters. Vinyl is EX+. Hits Now That You're Gone, Dialogue parts 1 & 2, Saturday in the Park, State of he Union.
Chicago VI, Columbia CQ 32400. Gatefold cover EX to EX+, more soiled than worn but not bad, and vinyl is EX+. Has the huge hits Just You and Me, In Terms of Two, and Feelin' Stronger Every Day. Great lp.
Chicago VII, 2 lps, Columbia C2Q 32810. Excellent gatefold cover with custom inner sleeves. Vinyl is again EX+. Conains I've Been Searchin' So Long, Wishing You Were Here (with the Beach Boys, talk about Harmony!) and my favorite, Life Saver./p>
Chicago VIII, Columbia PCQ 33100. Cover EX to EX+, including original poster and 10" high iron on of the red cardinal and Chicago logo from the cover. Has a sticker on the back stating "Music is your best entertainment value". Not sure if that's original or not. Custom inner sleeve. Hits Old Days and Harry Truman.
As information, the only other Chicago quads are 9-Greatest Hits and 10. You don't need 9 because it's all here in this set. I 'm leaving you Chicago 10 as a search challenge. These are very nice lps, and you may never see a set like this, in this condition again. Package will weigh 7 pounds.
The Rules- Buyer pays actual shipping. No hidden charges. Sellers who charge 4-6 dollars for Media mail are a pet peeve of mine.
Use the shipping calculator to figure your costs. Paypal preferred, money orders O.K.
The Rant: I'm tired of receiving lps graded MINT that have scratches and scuffs. Also the ones that are so dirty the seller can't see the scratches and scuffs. I'm also dizzy from trying to decipher mint minus from EX+, VG+ from EX, etc, with no description of what caused that rating.
The commitment: I'll describe the item as much as I need to to give a clear picture of the condition. If there are flaws, I'll describe them. If there are ANY marks OF ANY KIND on the vinyl I'll play through them to make sure they do not affect the listening experience. If they do, the listing will say so. Grading is an arbitrary thing, so I'll assign a grade, and you can use the description to cross check. Please e:mail any questions prior to the close of the auction. I will guarantee your money back, plus your postage, if the description of the item is inaccurate.
The Request: If for any reason you are unhappy with what you receive, talk to me and let's try to work it out before starting the feedback wars. I'll be reasonable and respectful, unlike some of the dealers I've tried to talk to about their ratings.
Thanks for looking, and good luck!
