CHICKEN SHACK Imagination Lady (Deram SDL 5) RARE UK 1st Pressing MINT-
Here`s an original very first UK pressing of Chicken Shack`s "Imagination Lady", released on Deram Records (April 1972).
Was it a wise career move on Stan Webb`s part to latch on to the hard/blues-rock success of the likes of Led Zeppelin or Cream? The Chicken Shack jury is probably still out on this one! Personally, I was mesmerised by this album: With musical ideas galore, fantastic musicianship by all involved and a less subtle, but all the more attention-grabbing attitude ("Poor Boy", anyone?), Stan Webb certainly planted (pun intended!) his feet firmly in Zep territory with "Imagination Lady".
GRADING:
MINT(-) COVER, with a single crease to the spine and absolutely minimal wear to the bottom edge only. Other than that, the cover is near-perfect. Please see photos for details.
MINT(-) RECORD that looks practically unplayed! A few very light hairlines from sleeve removal only.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "XZAL-10947P-2W", respectively "XZAL-10948P-2W". This clearly indicates a very first UK pressing of "Imagination Lady".
- Original Deram inner sleeve in MINT- condition, date-stamped "4/72". Again, conformation that this is a first pressing.
- Brown Deram record labels, as found only on early pressings.
- The label of side two only has a lone, whispy spindle line.
