CHICKEN SHACK – OK Ken * ORIG Blue Horizon LP * 7-63209 (UK, Mono, 1968)
Here’s this accomplished blues band’s 2nd LP – featuring Christine Perfect (McVie) who, of course, would go on to massive success with Blue Horizon label mates Fleetwood Mac.
The outer-laminated gatefold sleeve wa made in the UK by E.J Day & Co. and is a strong EX (Excellent). No appreciable creases to the laminate except for one through the spine and front back edges. Very sharp opening edges with no feathering, no splits or tears, no writing or stickers. Some slight storage rubbing from its 44 years but the laminate is still tight and attractive. Inside gate is superb – lovely vivid colours, no creases and no dirt.
The pale blue, semi –textured labels are nice and fresh with light to moderate spindle evidence. NO writing, scrapes, stickers etc
The medium weight vinyl grades a visual VG+ (Very Good Plus). It shows a few light hairlines and a couple of light but very small surface scratches on each side. Still maintains a nice shine. No nasty embedded dirt. HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays very satisfactory. I picked up a single click on the fifth track on Side 1 and a couple more to track 4 on Side 2. There’s a little light dust static in the spoken word passages but that’s it. Generally plays a strong EX and sounds loud and proud in original MONO!
Supplied in what I believe to be its original patents pending, poly-lined inner sleeve.
