Chico Buarque is one of Brazil's most iconic and influential musicians, known for his poetic songwriting, socially conscious lyrics, and his role in shaping Brazilian popular music (MPB). Active since the 1960s, Buarque became a symbol of resistance during the military dictatorship in Brazil, using his music to subtly criticize the regime and address themes of social justice, love, and identity.
Released in 1971, Construção is widely regarded as one of Buarque's masterpieces and one of the most important albums in Brazilian music history. It is a striking commentary on the dehumanizing aspects of industrialization and labor under a repressive regime.
