Description
CHILDREN OF THE SUN -- Same -- ex. rare, original 1980 U.S. album. Very obscure private press cross-over album of funk, hard rock and psych from this local Los Angeles-based late 1970's artist with a sound a bit like Sly & The Family Stone mixed with the ancient Egyptian/outer space vibe of Sun Ra. Loads of funky, stinging guitar and stuttering "wah-wah," and a gritty urban, funk feel to the vocals and sound (if your urban area happened to be on the planet Saturn, that is.) The beautiful pyramid-themed cover and song titles like "The Temple Is Now Threatened," "Children Of The Sun," and "Tomorrow's Just Too Late" should give you a feel for the spacey, psychedelic-influenced lyrics, but musically this is much more in the Sly/Curtis Mayfield vein. Tracks like "Riot" and "Truth" go into all-out funk/psych. I can't seem to find any information on the artist (or band) -- producer and co-songwriter is listed as Tom Gunn, so this may in fact be the main musician. A very good album that only rarely comes up for sale. Cover: VG+/VG++, removable price sticker at upper right, age stains along bottom left and bottom right edges, light wear at middle right opening edge. Record: VG+++, excellent condition, on red TNT Records private press label, U.S. pressing, stereo.
