TITLE: ONE STEP BEYOND
LABEL: TOWER 5153
This is a mega rare white label promotional copy of the PYSCH classic by the Chocolate Watchband from 1969 called One Step Beyond. Like the other 2 Watchband LPs this one was released only in the US and never had a UK release. Its a fabulously rare album and the general release books at a conservative $500 so I'm afraid I have to put a high starting bid on this one. This one is a white label promo with the words 'promotional not for sale' on the label (see photo) and the phrase 'FOR DJ USE' stamped on the back of the cover. I believe it has the same matrix numbers (ST 5153-1/ B11155 and ST 5153-2/ B11156) as the generally released copy had. Thes numbers are scratched into the dead wax. The cover has 'Printed in USA' in tiny circle on the rear bottom left and it also says 'Manufactured by Capito; Records Inc, a Subsidiary of Capitol Indstries Inc Hollywood and Vine Streets Hollywood Calif. Factories Scranton PA, Los Angeles, Calif, Jacksonville Ill' I provide this information to shoe this is a genuine copy. There were fake copies of this LP (although not fake promos I believe) made in the 1970's but this isn't one of them. Howver if the winning bidder isn't entirely satisfied that they have got a genuine copy of a rare record, I will refund them in full.
The VINYL is in EX- condition - it plays with little appreciable reduction in sound quality although there a few light marks on the playing surface.
The COVER is in EX condition.
Note: although these LPs were bootlegged in the 70's as far as I know this promo was not bootlegged. Also the cover for this LP has the Made in USA and Capital Records Inc manufacturing details in small print at the bottom and as far as I know this was not the case on bootlegs and finally the matrix numbers are scratched in the run off as on my copies of No Way Out and Requiem. There is no '?' in the run off which was the case with bootlegs. So as far as I am concerned this a genuine original promo release but if the winning bidder isn't happy I'll offer a full refund because I don't mind keeping this record a bit longer given its only going to increase in value.
