Description

 

Elegant 2LP box: the complete Nocturnes by Frederic Chopin played by Jan Smeterlin on piano. Epic records, late Fifties

For the cover Andy Warhol did a beautiful drawing of Flowers with Three Fireflies, in his famous blotted line technique.

Warhol's name is not signed nor mentioned on the drawing or LP-cover, but  a proof print of this drawing is in possession of the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. The record is pictured in catalogues & Warhol books.

Cover: very good shape, still nicely laminated. Small flaws: a number written in blue ball point pen on front (top left corner above serial number) and back (top right corner above serial number) . The black spine of the box is slightly damaged, gold lettering is complete and readable.

Vinyl: G+, the records have been played a lot. Play throughout ok, but with a lot of background noise. Still worthwhile for Smeterlin's historic performance. And the very rare Warhol cover, of course.
