Soundgarden formed in Seattle in 1984, FORTY years ago, with drummer Chris Cornell and guitarist Kim Thayil. Chris didn't stay on drums for long, and by their 1988 debut album ('Ultramega OK'), Chris Cornell was now officially their lead singer. Soundgraden became one of the "four horsemen" of Seattle music (Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden). Each of those bands rocked, were amazing, and helped change music forever!

Pearl Jam is still together, still making music, and still touring. Nirvana broke up after Kurt Cobain's death thirty years ago. Alice in Chains broke up for a few years after the passing of singer Layne Staley in 2002, but came back with a new singer that also plays guitar (William DuVall), and is continuing on with their awesome style of music, (and sounding great). Soundgarden broke up in 1997. Cornell released solo material through the years before reuniting with Soundgarden in 2010. They toured through '14, but tragedy struck in 2017, and Chris Cornell was found dead in his hotel room...

In 2018, a self-titled Chris Cornell compilation album was released. It came out in a few different formats, including CD and vinyl, and deluxe editions. One vinyl format is two standard black albums, but 180 gram vinyl, and a die-cut style Seattle trees slipcover. (More of a HALF slipcover, actually.) A limited number of these were made, as the majority of the vinyl copies are just the plain cover. The artwork actually won a Grammy (for best recording package), and is designed by Jeff Ament (bass player for Pearl Jam and Temple of the Dog), Jeff's brother Barry Ament, and Joe Spix. It won a prestigous award because it's awesome!

Up for grabs today is a gently used copy of that double album, with the Seattle trees slipcover! The vinyl records look new, and are still all shiny and clean. This is a gatefold, and in near perfect condition. The inside (large) booklet is immaculate. Just a top shelf copy, and ready to come home with you today. The album 'Chris Cornell' is a retrospective, with Soundgraden songs, Audioslave tracks, solo stuff, a soundtrack cut, a Temple of the Dog song, and live songs. There's even his version of the song "Nothing Compares 2 You", written by Prince, made by famous by Sinead O'Connor, and sung here by Chris. All are gone now...

I'll even add a very cool magazine! It's called 'Classic Rock' magazine, from the UK, and it puts most American rock mags to shame! 'Classic Rock" always has tons of pics, interviews, album reviews, and more. This is an issue printed up shortly before the death of Chris. Soundgraden (the reunion era) is on the cover. A perfect companion piece to the Seattle trees vinyl copy of 'Chris Cornell'. Magazine in awesome condition, with no pages torn, ripped, or missing. No handwriting or dog-eared pages.
