Description

You are viewing the following listing:

Artist: Squeeze

Release: ‘Some Fantastic Place’

Format: super rare 12” black vinyl in a single cover, printed inner. I purchased this in 1993, and I remember that I needed to specifically order it via my local record store in Dorset, as I struggled to find it on stock in any of my usual Bournemouth haunts.  In those days I would buy on cassette for the car and vinyl to play at home. Whilst the cassette got played to death on many a journey, the vinyl was played no more than 2-3 times.

According to these months brilliant ‘Record Collector’ (March 2026), this album is the rarest standard UK release by the band by a country mile, listing the album at £140. (Apparently this is a limited French pressing produced for the UK-specific market).  I will auction this album on this basis on a ten-day basis.

Release year: 1993

Release number: A&M 540 140-1

Barcode: 7 31454 01401 4

Label: A&M

Condition: the fragile thin card single sleeve has very flat uncreased front and back panels. Timy wear points on the corners and a minor dink to the top spine corner. Tiny wear point toward the edge of the spine. Minor wear and rubbing to the lower part of the rear panel. The printed inner had the record quickly removed and stored in an anti-static sleeve, and the vinyl was removed from both the inner and outer sleeve. Inner is perfectly flat with minimal age yellowing, and no creases, no splits etc. I have play-tested the vinyl, and on my excellent Marantz deck and system the vinyl sounds much deeper and ‘fuller’ than my CD version. The record has played superbly with very minor static in between tracks, but no nasty ‘pops’ or ‘clicks’ etc. I noticed a few moderate static noise towards the end of the second song on side two 'Jolly Comes Home'. The vinyl has a very, very warp, and I am including a video so you can assess. This is minor and does not affect play in any way – it really is minimal! The record visually is in line with the play grading, and with a strong sheen, minor hairlines at worst, not marks handling or otherwise and no scratches. I am grading this super rare 12” album as a strong excellent condition.
