CHRIS SWANSEN Pulaski Skyway LP

Original Badger Release

SIGNED BY BOB MOOG

CHRIS SWANSEN : Pulaski Skyway LP (Badger [USA] 1001) 1972

This record is in Near Mint condition for both the cover and vinyl.  Cover has no scuffs and the corners are perfectly square with all gluing intact. The vinyl appears to have been minimally played.
The back cover is prominently signed by Bob Moog on the back cover in red felt tip pen.
Chris Swansen (1939 - 1995) was the musical director and composer-in-residence at the R.A. Moog Company (circa 1968-1970).  He had the privilege of premiering the Moog Synthesizer at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1969, as well as in Paris that same year. This is the first of two albums on the Moog that Swansen released.
He studied at Dartmouth and the Berklee School of Music from 1961-1963. In 1963, he was the first jazz composer to attend Tanglewood, and studied conducting with Günther Schuller, Aaron Copland and Yannis Xenakis. He also played with jazz greats such as Phil Woods, Gary Woods, John McLaughlin, Eddie Gomez, Joe Henderson, Maynard Ferguson and Stan Kenton.

PROVENANCE This album comes from the collection of my wife's father who was a music educator in the Western New York area from the 1950s through the 1980s. The album was purchased at a local recital and signed by Moog in his presence. As part of his LP collection, this album has been stored in his residence, upright, in a collection of many other albums. The vinyl is true and unwarped, and the cover smells only of the original cardboard - no mustiness or mildew at all.
This album has never been re-released on vinyl, and this is a great opportunity to own an original piece of early experimental electronic music by a master of the genre, signed by the pioneer of the electronic synthesizer, Bob Moog.
