HERE is an ultra rare first press UK vinyl copy of Chris Thompson's self-titled debut album on the tiny Village Thing label (VTS 21) from 1973 - top quality singer/songwriter psych, folk and blues that has since become a cult collectable among the discerati.
On its release the album got buried in a mound of financial problems between distributors Transatlantic and Village Thing; the latter, only a 'cottage industry' in the words of its founder Ian Anderson, is said to have sold a mere 101 copies.
'Chris Thompson' was paradoxically the label's poorest performing album as well as its creative peak, now featuring in Galactic Ramble's top ten LPs that "really are acid folk" (that is 'acoustic music clearly touched by lysergic experimentation').
Dominic Stinton, writing in Galactic Ramble, rates this album among the top five acid folk releases of the early '70s, describing how Thompson's "brilliant guitarwork" is "brilliantly offset" by Magic Carpet's tabla and sitar backing.

The disc must easily grade VG+ with only the lightest of surface marks to be seen when critically examined under strong halogen lighting - there are absolutely no scratches of any kind.The lovely Village Thing labels remain beautifully unmarked and show very little evidence of any spindle wear, indicating little playage over the years.
The fully laminated single sleeve is also in strong VG+ condition with a sharp unfeathered opening edge, laminate lift along the spine, a few light indentations and the tiniest amount of corner wear.
In short, here is a rare opportunity to obtain a keeper copy of an ultra rare album which is now highly sought after and obviously very hard to find.
