CHRISTIAN PIRATE MINISTER VON R SAUM 1970 ALBUM Captain Hook COLONEL SANDERS KFC

SHIP AHOY!
Captain Hook and His Pirate Crew
1970 / Calvary Records CAV 5059
Vintage 12" 33rpm Vinyl LP Record Album

PLEASE NOTE: This is the record you will get BUT it comes in an odd hybrid sleeve. The front panel is for the band's "Anchors Away!" album but the back panel is a "Ship Ahoy!" album back panel that has been pasted over with a blank white paper panel. So you can't see the back panel. Below I show a picture of what that panel looks like, but you will not be able to see it on the album you will get.

That back panel is rather interesting because the liner notes are by Colonel Harland Sanders (on Kentucky Fried Chicken letterhead) enthusiastically endorsing this album:

"This young man's life began where most men's would have ended. The actual beginning came after a tragic motor-cycle accident that took his left arm and leg at the age of 17. When some would have shaken their fist at the heavens in bitter anger, this man turned a tragedy into a triumph.

After four years of training at the Southern Bible College in Houston, Texas, Von R. Saum took on a new name and image -- Captain Hook. The Captain now travels internationally telling an old story a new way -- the Gospel story, pirate style. His crewmembers are Mrs. Hook who complements his ministry with storytelling and much of the prop work in his kid's crusades. Next in line is "Fish Hook" (Victor), "Tadpole" (Vince) and "Little Sea Swan" (Valerie). They are trained shipmates and keep up the fast evangelical pace with the Captain.

In all of my 80 years, (I recently celebrated my 80th birthday,) I've never seen anything quite like this. Surely this is a God-given ministry. You can really feel the compassion and concern in Captain Hook's voice. Lean back and take a good listen. It's almost "finger-lickin' good!"

Smooth Sailin',

Colonel Harland Sanders

Condition: Vinyl record is in played condition, but plays well with no skipping. Sleeve has some surface handling wear but the edges are not split. A rather attractive copy of this uncommon album
