CHROME - Alien Soundtracks ORIG Siren LP (US, 1977)

No catalogue numbers. Matrices DE 2100/2200 SEC.

Happy to present one of the very greatest albums ever in the history of experimental music. Full stop. Period. End of Story. If you’ve never come across this LP or had the chance to hear it and if you’re into incredibly original electronic/organic soundscapes with a punk attitude, then this underground milestone should be in your box. Never released in the UK, this is an immense marriage of dense spaced guitar work with early electronics and tape loops with a great earthy rhythm section. A lot of the stuff on here is not unlike early Malcolm Mooney era Can. Featuring Damon Edge & Helios Creed, mention should be made of John Lambdin’s great guitar work and Gary Spain’s solid bass.

The original heavy card pasted US sleeve is solid and predominantly not creased but has a 3 inch split to the top edge from the opening. There is also a little tear and general rubbing to the top of the spine. The rest of the sleeve is fine with only light rubbing to the front and rear faces and a solid bottom edge. There’s moderate corner wear. Overall a solid VG for a fragile wear prone USA sleeve.

The labels are solid with no damage or writing. Moderate spindle trails on one side, hardly any on the other.

The vinyl looks great with very little light and isolated surface marking, hardly any really and maintaining full sheen. There are NO scratches, NO scuffs and only a few tiny light hairlines and wispy bagrash.

Visually it’s a full EX. Has been carefully listened to and Side 1 plays perfectly while the just the occasional click/tick to some sections on Side 2, never spoiling the incredible music.

Supplied with its original picture inner in VG (small splits to right and left edges). If ever an album was a ‘lost classic’ then this is IT. Not often offered it’s also quite a rare disc. Good luck!
