CHUBBY CHECKER “Chequered” 1971 UK Original Funk Rock Fuzz Psych lp AUTOGRAPHED! Listen!

1971/UK/London Records SHZ 8419….. here’s a very rare first pressing of this highly prized lp, and for good reason. This copy is autographed on the back cover, lower right corner. This autograph was obtained by a friend that worked in the record/music industry in the 70’s and early 80's. He received this autograph in person. The thin fragile laminated cover is in strong VG+ condition with light corner bumps and wear, light shelf wear, light ring wear on back cover, there is a tiny bump near the top of the spine and has lifted the paper on the C of Chequered(see pics), otherwise the cover is solid and clean with no splits or delete. The vinyl is in clean VG+ to VG++ condition with a few minor light whispy  sleeve scuffs/scratches, typical of being stored in a poly lined sleeve. The record plays very nice with only occasinal light low level noise and the record plays with nice fidelity. The record plays through excellent with no skips, sticks, jumps or other issues. I have recorded side 1 with no sound fixing. What you hear is what it is! The labels are clean with just a few light spindle marks. A very nice copy of this rare first pressing that seldom turns up for sale. Recommended!! Please check my listings for other garage and psych lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!

Like several other icons of early 60s pop, by the end of the decade Chubby Checker was eager to update his sound and message. The result was this enigmatic set of raw, soulful, psych-tinged ballads and rockers. Overseen by Jimi Hendrix ‘s early producer Ed Chalpin, it was released in the UK in 1971.

GRADING

MINT: I consider only New Unplayed or Sealed items.

M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have a few minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
