Record Label: Chess #1488 USA MONO PRESSING

Release Year: 1964

Vinyl Condition: VG+ to VG++ well kept, not played much, a few light superficial scuffs, nothing deep

Cover Condition: VG+ with no seam splits, name written on back, no stickers, delete hole, no saw marks, no punch holes. Light to moderate shelf wear.

Notes/info: Chuck Berry spent much of 1962 and all of 1963 in jail after being convicted on a Mann Act charge. When he emerged in January of 1964, the popular music landscape had been forever changed by the British Invasion. Fortunately artists like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones recorded his songs. The Rolling Stones included "Carol" on their 1964 debut, and the Beatles included a cover of "Rock and Roll Music" the same year on Beatles for Sale.

This inspired Berry to go into the studio to cut one of the strongest albums of his career. In addition to the hits "No Particular Place to Go" (No. 10), "You Never Can Tell" (No. 14), and "Promised Land" (No. 41), it also includes "Little Marie" (a sequel to "Memphis" that went to No. 54).

GRADING: We use SS, NM, VG++, VG+, VG (below VG is usually crap and we don't sell crap.) 

S/S = NEW FACTORY SEALED.

NM (or M-)  = nearly immaculate, only the absolute lightest signs of use, usually only played a few times if at all.

VG++ = a grade we use if a record is just shy of NM or a hair better than VG+ (a collector class record to be sure)

VG+ = a well kept record which shows light to moderate signs of play. (Will please most collectors).

VG  = a heavily played record which should still sound "OK", but may include surface noise, pops, or even a skip. (Good starter copy on something rare)

All vinyl is visually graded under bright lights, conservatively.  

Mint is rarely and only used for something that is either factory sealed or obviously unplayed.
