CHUCK BERRY TWIST 1962 1ST PRESSING VINYL LP RARE CHESS LP-1465 BLACK LABEL R&B

This is an original 1962 1st pressing on the matte black Chess label, with silver inking: # Chess LP-1465

"Sheldon" is clearly stamped in the dead wax, which generally indicates this is an early 1st pressing.  I have rated this LP as VG-.  The record has played through, remarkably well with a 2.5gram conical stylus. There is audible surface noise in the quiet dead areas, but the album is actually very listenable.  Despite surface wear, the information in the groove remains tight.

The cover is nice, with no splitting, tape or writing. The seam are un-split, the graphics are bright, the white is clean. (Please refer to the example photos).

Please do not purchase this item, if you have not read through the description, and have taken the time to understand the grading.  Please contact me with any/all questions if you have them, I will provide additional pictures, if technically feasible.

VG- -  All of the defects listed VG category would be more pronounced. The record will play through without skipping WITH NORMAL tracking force. A quick skip or two with no more that 2.5 grahams of tracking force are permissible. The record will have many obvious flaws but still enjoyable to listen to. Generally if the record is rare, it is still highly collectible.

Chuck Berry Twist is the first compilation album by Chuck Berry, released by Chess Records in February 1962, during Berry's imprisonment.[1] The title was an attempt to capitalize on a new dance craze, the Twist, introduced by Chubby Checker in 1960, even though none of the songs musically conformed to the Twist style (most of the songs predated the introduction of the dance). The album was reissued a year later with a new title, More Chuck Berry. An album with that title was released in the UK by Pye International Records in 1964, featuring the same cover but a completely different track listing.Chuck Berry Twist is the first compilation album by Chuck Berry, released by Chess Records in February 1962, during Berry's imprisonment.[1] The title was an attempt to capitalize on a new dance craze, the Twist, introduced by Chubby Checker in 1960, even though none of the songs musically conformed to the Twist style (most of the songs predated the introduction of the dance).
