Description

Berry Is on Top is the third studio album by Chuck Berry, released in July 1959 on Chess Records. With the exception of one track, "Blues for Hawaiians", all selections had been previously released on 45 rpm singles, several of which were double-sided and charted twice. Nicknamed the "Father of Rock n' Roll", Mr. Berry wrote, sung and recorded numerous songs that influenced the wide world of rock music. The album up for bid is a first edition, first pressing, monaural recordingl that consists of 12 tracks that include "Carol", "Maybellene", "Johnny B. Goode","Roll Over Beethovan" and others.
The cover has seen better days but is still in good condition. The edges have been taped, but the title edge is still intact. The front and back covers are intact without tears and the printing is very legible (see photos).
The paper inner sleeve was in bad condition, but has been replaced with a new paper/polyvinyl sleeve to prevent dust accumalation.
The recording has been cleaned and tested with Audacity. All tracks play without skipping. There is a moderate amount of surface noise consisting mostly of mild "clicks" that (IMO) do not significantly interfere with the listening experience. However, this is not an audiophile recording. The record surface shows that this recording has recieved its share of use, but there was no evidence of scratches to the touch. Nonetheless, I would rate the recording as Good+. When testing the recording with earphones, I enjoyed listening to the original recordings that have influenced so many other artists, and I hope you will also.
