CHUCK MANGIONE
Feels So Good
Test Pressing
Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFQR-1068)
Here is quite an unusual find. This is a test pressing for Chuck Mangione's Feels So Good from Mobile Fidelity. The test comes from the JVC plant and the sticker has the record number as MFQR-1068. If I am not mistaken, this is the prefix for the UHQR LPs that Mobile Fidelity produced. The matrix/dead wax identifies the record as "MFSL 1-068" and looks to be the same as the commercial release of Feels So Good.
Normally I would say the "MFQR" is a mislabel but the weight of the vinyl is distinctly heavier and the pressing shape is noticably different than the commercial version. Unfortunately, I am not set up to do a proper A/B test. From what I can tell, there does seem to be difference in the imaging dimension but I am no expert on this particular recording. Ultimately the grading on this LP is VG++. It does really sound nice. The plain white jacket with the sticker and writing has some light shelfwear.
I have posted pictures from a JVC UHQR report that was actually with my Dark Side Of The Moon test pressing. If you are the winner of the auction and would like me to make a copy of it for you, please let me know.
If you have any questions or answers on this test pressing, please share.

Whenever possible we try to play grade. Unfortunately there is not enough time in the day to listen to everything so certain things will be visually graded.
We use professional cardboard record mailers because we care.
