CILLA BLACK - "Love Of The Loved" / LEE STERLING "I Could If I Wanted To"
Dick James Music Limited Demo Disc - 45rpm Acetate - UK - 1963
Rare original UK Dick James demo disc / double-sided acetate of Cilla Black's version of the early Lennon/McCartney tune "Love Of The Loved". The acetate is 6½ inches rather than the usual 7.
The flip side is by Lee Sterling, although the tune is not familiar to me. Someone must know it though?
Condition is pretty rough to be honest. It plays through okay but sonically it has not aged well, it sounds very crackly.
It may be possible to clean it up and get a decent sound clip from it but I can't guarantee it'll sound any better than it does now. Which is not good! See photos for details.
Although the condition is poor, there's no doubting its rarity and I'm offering it strictly as a collectors item of historical interest to Lennon/McCartney fans. If you're after a mint condition super clean Cilla 45 then this isn't it, but even though it's in worn condition Cilla fans and Beatles completists will know how scarce this one is...
