The Elephant 6 scene that rose from the American South-East in the 1990s marked a radical re-invention of the indie mainstream at that point, adding not only psychedelic whimsy to its palette but a vibrant sense of experimentation. At the forefront of this was Will Cullen Hart, whose work with Olivia Tremor Control marked him out as no less than an underground visionary. Despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he has maintained a steady output of work under this new moniker, which see him exploring unchartered sonic terrain in a beguiling style liable to prompt comparisons to the likes of both Van Dyke Parks and Anton Newcombe. This new 31-track opus, which features a number of his old contemporaries including Neutral Milk Hotel man Jeff Mangum on guest duties, is a veritable third-eye treasure-trove of heavy-lidded pop charm and otherworldly atmosphere.
