Clarke Boland Sextett, Music for the Small Hours, Columbia SMC 74324, gold-white label (see photograph). Condition of vinyl and jacket is NEAR MINT. To me this seems to be a “mystery copy” since it resembles my original first pressing like an egg does another. The high glossy jackets are identical in each tiny detail, and the sound of the record offered here is closer to the original pressing than current reissues (where you can watch some oddities referring to Jimmy Woode’s bass). However there is a small difference since the dead wax does not contain the gravure “YRX 50154” (as in the original pressing) but “SMC 74324”. Given all these facts I tend to believe the opinion of a fellow collector who argued this may be an obviously rare second pressing released by the same company rather than a late reissue. Certainly everyone visiting this site is familiar with discographical information, so I will not waste the time of the reader: For the participating musicians and for a list of the tracks I will point you to my picture of the front cover.

I have been a collector of vinyl jazz and books for more than 40 years, and I am only selling records of my extensive personal collection.
