Background -

This is a super rare, long out of print, audiophile LP TEST PRESSING title made by the famous CLASSIC RECORDS label. As all audiophiles know, Classic Records, alas, is no more. Their products have already become very difficult to find as retailers sell of their inventory and everything the company made is all out of print.

This test pressing is FACTORY SEALED and comes in generic white record jackets (like the picture with this listing - we provided a picture of the original cover of the LP so that a collector will better understand the LP we are referring to with respect to these test pressings), with a loose fitting plastic outer sleeve, in sealed condition. The information contained on the disc is stamped on the front of the record jacket (see details below).

As inventories keep shrinking and titles disappear, the only direction the pricing on these rarities will go is up, so this is your chance to secure one for your record collection -  an true investment in music! Good luck finding a sealed copy again and if you do, it will likely be at a much higher price!!

Test Pressing Manufacturing date: March 4, 1996

    • Classic Records LP Item - audiophile issue, TEST PRESSING

    • Pressing is in STEREO

    • A great disc with superb low end. It is rich, robust and vibrant, with great mid-range life and transparency and very powerful, well defined low end. The bass drum on this recording has some of the same implosive, subterranean sound that it has on Ballet Music from the Opera. Double basses are extremely well pitched and dynamic, which seems to be a characteristic of the RCA Paris recordings. Violins are a little "hot" but that heat also adds life and sparkle to the sound. The Rapsodie Espagnole which fills out side four is a real humdinger! This LP recording features the music of Albeniz and Ravel with Jean Morel conducting the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra. Recorded by engineer Kenneth Wilkinson (we believe) for RCA in the early 1960's. Rated at 10+ by the RCA Bible.

    • Highly sought after title by audiophiles and music lovers alike - the stereo, original shaded dog is very rare and expensive, especially in near mint shape - in our humble opinion, the Classic Records reissue bests the original in many ways - in many years of collecting we have had a good number of originals. All of them pale in comparison to the reissue, primarily due to condition, noise, dynamics, etc. This is your chance to hear what this LP is supposed to sound like!

    • The Test Pressing stamped information indicates: March 4 1996, LSC 6094, D1, 45 - the item is sealed, we believe this stamped information to indicate the date of manufacturing of the test pressing, the record catalog number, the side of the record and stamper number, and that the LP is cut at 45rpm for greatest dynamics. This is a single LP and music is only on one side of the LP title.

This listing is for a very rare, long out of print and factory sealed audiophile LP TEST PRESSING issue of a much sought after recording featuring the music of -

Isaac Albeniz

Maurice Ravel

Music on this LP:

Albeniz: Iberia (complete)
Ravel: Rapsodie Espagnole

  • LP catalog # LSC 6094
Performers on this LP -

Jean Morel, conductor
Paris Conservatoire Orchestra

CONDITION Details:

So if our definition of the stamped information on the jacket is correct, this test pressing has some (but not all) of the music from side 4 of this marvelous LP on it, cut at 45rpm. It is a single sided LP and comes with NO artwork on the jacket.

The white, generic LP jacket is in MINT condition - it is FACTORY SEALED!

The LP is assumed to be in MINT condition - this item is FACTORY SEALED!

A Short Note About LP GRADING -

  • Mint = Only used for sealed items.
  • Near Mint = Virtually flawless in every way.
  • Near Mint Minus = Item has some minor imperfections, some audible.
  • Excellent = Item obviously played and enjoyed with some noise.
  • Very Good Plus = Many more imperfections which are noticeable and obtrusive.

For best results, always properly clean your LPs before playing them (even for new LPs).

The LP is an audiophile quality pressing (any collector of fine MFSL, half speeds, direct to discs, Japanese/UK pressings etc., can attest to the difference a quality pressing can make to an audio system).

Don't let this rarity slip by!!!
