This is a super rare, long out of print, audiophile LP TEST PRESSING title made by the famous CLASSIC RECORDS label. As all audiophiles know, Classic Records, alas, is no more. Their products have already become very difficult to find as retailers sell of their inventory and everything the company made is all out of print.This test pressing is FACTORY SEALED and comes in a generic white record jacket (like the picture with this listing - we provided a picture of the original cover of the LP so that a collector will better understand the LP we are referring to with respect to this test pressing), with a loose fitting plastic outer sleeve. The information contained on the disc is stamped on the front of the record jacket (see details below).
As inventories keep shrinking and titles disappear, the only direction the pricing on these rarities will go is up, so this is your chance to secure one for your record collection - an investment in music that could better your return on the stock market! Good luck finding a sealed copy again and if you do, it will likely be at a much higher price!!

Harold George "Harry" Belafonte, Jr. (born March 1, 1927) is an American singer, songwriter, actor and social activist. He was dubbed the "King of Calypso" for popularizing the Caribbean musical style with an international audience in the 1950s. Belafonte is perhaps best known for singing "The Banana Boat Song", with its signature lyric "Day-O". Throughout his career he has been an advocate for civil rights and humanitarian causes. He was a vocal critic of the policies of the George W. Bush administration.
Belafonte at Carnegie Hall is a live double album by Belafonte (and a long time audiophile favorite). It is the first of two Belafonte Carnegie Hall albums, and was recorded on April 19 and April 20, 1959. The stereo version of the album was released on the RCA Victor label, in the "Living Stereo" series. The concerts were benefits for The New Lincoln School and Wiltwyck School, respectively.
The shows from this collection were held in June of 1959 as benefit performances at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Belafonte draws deeply from his back catalog offering a wide scope of styles and interpretations, as the artist pushes the creative boundaries into a variety of native folk music. His stories and fables are melodically woven with accompaniment supplied by diverse ensembles. They range from the sole acoustic guitarist and hand percussion heard on "Darlin' Cora" to the 47-piece orchestra incorporated into the epic singalong "Mathilda." Belafonte's presentation is divided into several disparate themes and motifs. The "Moods of the American Negro" contains the soul-stirring tales of "John Henry" and the emotive "Sylvie," while "In The Caribbean" conjures up favorites, including his trademark calypso anthems "Day-O," "Jamaica Farewell," and the cerebrally solemn "All My Trials." He concludes with "'Round the World," a catchall that boasts selections extending from the traditional Jewish "Hava Nageela" to the sublime "Danny Boy" and equally captivating "Shenandoah." The program ends with a nearly quarter-hour "Mathilda," allowing the audience to participate in a call-and-response of the chorus in which Belafonte summons a reaction from specific demographics and patrons within the venue -- such as "women over 40" and "people in the tiers." Until either the complete 1959 double-LP, or better yet an "expanded edition" is delivered, Live from Carnegie Hall remains a testament to Harry Belafonte as a formidable and thoroughly entertaining presence at the zenith of his abilities.. -
Highly sought after title by audiophiles and music lovers alike - the stereo, original shaded dog is very rare, especially in near mint shape - in our humble opinion, the Classic Records reissue bests the original in many ways - in years of collecting we have had a good number of originals. All of them pale in comparison to the reissue, primarily due to condition, noisy vinyl, dynamics, etc. This is your chance to hear what this LP is supposed to sound like!
