The original RCA LP, licensed for release by RCA until the late 1960's and recorded in July of 1956 (symphony) and May 1957 (overture), was among the very earliest of the stereo recordings made by Decca/London.  The original RCA issue was in mono only – it was never issued in stereo by RCA in the U.S. (though it did appear in stereo in England).  However, the Schwann catalog DID show an "LSC-2185" from September of 1958 until July of 1959, after which it disappeared (never having had a black diamond in front of it warning of impending deletion).  But no one I know has ever seen a copy of it, so, like "LSC-1900," despite announcements, apparently no actual LP was issued.  So it is startling to see this cover with a "Living Stereo" banner across the top! Incidentally, Boult's recording of the Symphony #2, from the same sessions, also appeared on Red Seal only in mono, but was eventually issued in stereo on Victrola.

This is a very early Factory-Sealed pressing of the mid-1990’s Classic Records issue, on 180-gram vinyl.
