Brian Wilson edges towards a complete album of worthy material by eliminating, bit by bit, the weaker stuff. On Surfer Girl he almost acomplishes this, and of the twelve cuts that make up the album, the only weak ones are South Bay Surfers and Boogie Woodie. Not that every other song is a classic but with Surfer Girl, Catch A Wave, The Surfer Moon, Little Deuce Coupe, In My Room, Your Summer Dream and Surfers Rule on board this is an album that has to be taken seriously. The arrangements are bigger and more adventurous than ever, even if the subject matter hasn't moved on much. It may still be teen scene poprock, aimed squarely at teenagers, but there's an underlying maturity at work here which must have been an exciting development to the more discerning listener. Brian Wilson's personal artistic vision is beginning to take center stage and, as his falsetto lead features on more and more numbers, it's becoming clear that his intention is to take surf music in a direction that will broaden into something more important, a fortuitious move which would help him prepare for the impending rivalry of the Beatles...Count this as Brian's first ballad masterpiece

CONDITION: The Cover: Solid all over M- still in factory shrink wrap (the outer wrapper has outer cellophane missing along the pocket of the front and back, still 75% is there and tight abround the album ...no split seams, no bends, no writing with bright original colors...
The Vinyl: both sides are very shiny and clean looking from the start, VG++ to "EX" (excellent) with no more than a few soft whispy scuffs like from the paper inner sleeve...play graded extremely enjoyable with no audio problems...and the rainbow Capitol labels are clean...
