Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Original 1971 BRITISH first pressing vinyl of one of the last great albums by the mighty QUINTESSENCE ...an adventurous progressive - psychedelic rock album led by higher key elements, whirling flute, winding guitar leads and tight cosmic jams....
QUINTESSENCE were led by the Australian violinist and flutist Ron Rothfield (a.k.a. 'Raja Ram'), the keyboardist Phil Jones ('Shiva Shankar') and Shambu Babaji on guitar and bass, this North-London band had, as you have guessed, very strong spiritual exotic Eastern/Indian music influences. Their first two albums, "In Blissful Company" and their eponymous second album had much success riding on the new passion provoked by the Beatles for Indian music. They are filled with Indian sacred chants and psalms,layered within great psych/prog filled rock tracks. At the top of their career, Quintessence was famous for playing superb Eastern-laced psychedelic rock blend with ethnic fusion under gorgeous backdrops.
Cosmic Surfer" is a strong psychy laced rock number to kick off with, and maybe reflected the increasing tension between some of the band members as to whether to carry on pursuing their trademark psychedelic rock route.
"Wonders of the universe" is a haunting, compelling ballad featuring voice and guitar, and highlights just how magnificent a singer Shiva was - and how delicate and soulful Alan could be when the mood took him. This has always been one of the favourite Quintessence songs, and will doubtless remain so. Beautiful interplay and crystal clear.
"Hallelujad" is one of the band's better jams, swelling slowly but inexorably to reach a resounding crescendo under Shiva's masterly touch.
"Celestial procession" is just what it says on the cover: a bunch of animal & ecology sound effects over trippy flute and sitar like drones. Distinctly odd but nevertheless true. Don't play this when the pets are around.
"Freedom" and "Water Goddess" occupy the whole of the second side. They are "live" tracks and were intended to capture what the band did best. Their concerts were full-on experiences - with candles and dancing and lights and drapes and incense, enchanting voices, whirling flutes and guitar feedback with driving rhythm and soaring vocals - all which invade all your senses simultaneously, and gradually build up inside you until you found yourself transported to another sphere altogether. Electric. These "live" tracks are about as good as you can hope to get after all this time.
"Vishnu-Narain". Without doubt, this represents one of the band's two greatest moments on vinyl - the other being "Manco Capac" off the first LP. This is where the band welded together magnificently from the first to the last (fade-out) notes to deliver a stunningly powerful, cohesive song that really moved along: no dross, no aimless jamming, no frills, pure psychedelic rock at its finest. And what virtuoso lead guitar-playing! Absolute magic. If this doesn't get you singing and tapping your toes, then fear you need to check your pulse. You're probably as extinct as the band...

CONDITION: The cover the fragile UK-only issue is clean and solid all over; just a little light shelf wear, minor, not bad, at top center, VG+(+) front and back group photos cover is "EX" (excellent) ...altogether, no bends, no split seams, no writing
The vinyl is all glossy both sides...M- looks and plays NICE and smooth with no audio problems ... play graded to top levels... the RCA labels are both clean
