SO ... as the legend goes, the original pressing, a private job from the '70s is one of the rarest of the bunch. Apparently a micro-pressing so first issues are impossible and insanely expensive. Later on there was an exact issue also released that was also quite limited, unfortunately as it has a thick cover, basically a mirror image to the first press, it's all but impossible to tell the difference. We think that is what we are listing here and wouldn't suppose this is the first press. Still this copy is rare and haven't seen a copy for many years... By the way, apparently in the late years of last century there was a European issue also released on the "Breeder" series. That issue should be the easiest to find, but, it's not an easy find either.

CORPUS ~~~ "CREATION OF A CHILD"

Underrated, ballsy 1970s rock album in the Texas style, which means good production, strong vocals, and solid playing all around. Some of it is rootsy blues-rock which wins out on pure class and power, but the highlights are undoubtedly two psych-flavored epics that could easily slide onto the Garrett Lund or D.R. Hooker LPs: the nocturnal, moodily jazz-tinged Mythical Dream and the even better Joy, whose combination of soaring vocals and superbly controlled feedback licks will have any fan of 70s private press sounds ~~ flip out !

The music is given additional appeal by realistic lyrics about relationships and fatherhood, planned and unplanned, that retain a male perspective without degenerating into macho cliches. These guys were probably local heroes among kids cruising around Corpus Texas, and in another time and place they would have hit the big time. Despite reservations, impressive and a must hear for 1970s rock fans, while undoubtedly too much 'classic rock’ for '60s guys. A cool cosmic yet primitive sleeve adds bonus points...
