Description
17th May 1967 one-sided Emidisc acetate of unknown-to-exist track from popular London club band of the era. The acetate (which has some light surface marks but is in nice condition, playing around Ex) is credited on the hand-written label to Cliff Bennett, but ‘Blame Yourself Baby’ is actually an instrumental - a typical Rebel Rousers slab of brassy, up-tempo, Swinging London club mod/soul beat. Possibly it was intended to become the first single by the band without their lead singer, but unfortunately Cliff and the band lost their recording contract with EMI in the same month that this acetate was cut, and the track doesn’t appear to have ever been issued. A nice, probably unique item that would sound great on one of those collectors compilations of obscure British mid-60s club mod/soul!
