THIS LP IS EXTREMELY RARE!! 

Just a handful found their way into the UK having been acquired by Harry Dodds who ran the Gene Vincent Fan Club at that time. These were snapped up by a few members of that club. This copy belonged to Harry Dodds who stamped his name on the back cover. 

You won't find this album listed in UK Price Guides as it was not released in the UK.

CLIFF GALLUP, as all Rock 'n' Roll fans should already know, was the legendary lead guitarist for GENE VINCENT's BLUECAPS in 1956. His wild guitar licks and unique, inventive Rock 'n' Roll guitar style was prominent on all of Vincent's 1956 recordings including BE-BOP-A-LULA, RACE WITH THE DEVIL, BLUEJEAN BOP etc.  Amongst many others, GEORGE HARRISON and JEFF BECK always said that it was Cliff Gallup who inspired them to take up the guitar.

The record plays well. It has a few light surface marks but nothing serious. Both labels are clean and unmarked.

The cover has been taped around its outer edges. There is evidence of some damage to the bottom edge. It has 'soft' corners...two of which have also been creased. On the back there is writing as the original track listing on Side 1 left out track 4 'Chicken Feathers' and this has been written in. Despite the blemishes the front cover artwork still looks good and the back cover information & photos are clearly visible. There is a rare photo of Cliff Gallup on the back.

Notes on the back cover have been written by Sheriff 'Tex' Davis...Gene Vincent's first manager and a prominent member of the Norfolk, Virginia music scene in the 50s and 60s...and beyond.

Please note:  If you are expecting blistering guitar on this LP, this is not for you. By 1966, when this album was recorded, Cliff Gallup had moved away from the Rock 'n' Roll scene but continued playing locally in the Norfolk area with The Four Cs. The music here is cool and mellow...instrumentals with a hint of country and even jazz. BUT it IS Cliff Gallup!! This was his only solo album. Get it while you can because you are unlikely to see another copy on eBay....

I am NOT a dealer but have many years experience of buying & selling records as a hobby. I tend to specialise in items from the 50s, 60s and 70s. I use the standard Record Collector's Grading System. 

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration etc.

I do not normally sell records that are below GOOD unless they have some rarity value.

I pack all records very carefully as I want you to receive the record(s) in the condition that I would like to receive them. I use official card record mailers with TWO layers of card inside. I always obtain a proof of postage from the Post Office. If you require Recorded Delivery and/or Insurance please let me know as soon as possible after the auction has finished. I aim to post your record(s) within 48 hours of receiving your payment.
